Hrm! So I have not made an update in a while, it seems!
Whatever! Here are some things I am up to!
I am still making things and occasionally even facilitating a workshop here and there.
I’m moving into a new studio space across the hall this month to give me more space.
I am working at the Centre of Craft and Design part time and am still slinging a beer or two at Breton Brewing.
I haven’t had a day of not making anything this year. Even on vacation, I made something.
After a bit of a busy time this November, there is only one holiday show that remains for me. December 10th I will be at the Cape Breton Regional Library (Sydney branch) from 10-5 with my prints, ornaments and bookmarks. It is free and the company will be top notch. And it is in the library, so that is just dandy. I will whisper all my holiday cheer to you! So pop by and see me this weekend.
After a pretty bananas school year, I was sure I was going to be incredibly productive on the art front in the months of July and August. I was going to get up every morning, do my volunteering with my best doggie pals by 10am and then get down to business. I was going to do just like my hero, Wonder Woman, taking it all on with a vengeance. A real go-getter.
Boy, was I wrong about myself this time. I went into zombie mode instead. After packing 4 school libraries up and unpacking some of those into new schools, (ON MY OWN!), I pretty much short circuited and was unable to be creative or productive.
Once I was ready to get at it, I had a hand injury that put me out of commission for about two weeks. I count myself lucky that there appears to be no excessive damage. Let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight! My injury drew kids over to look at it in the emergency room. It was THAT kind of bad.
But now, I am back at it. I have completed a few new commissions for people and will be adding prints of those over the new few weeks. I hope to get a few more finished up before the chaos of September roles around, so stay tuned!
Big thanks to all who attended the Pop Up Show over ECMA weekend in Sydney featuring myself and the lovely Caitlyn Rose. We were thrilled to see old friends, new friends and strangers milling in and out of the location, which was generously given to us for several hours from Marcato Festival.
